Sports Massage is a deeper soft tissue massage, which is a more individualised and tailored treatment designed to treat a common injury or musculoskeletal pain. It’s also tailored to prepare an athlete for a sporting event or aid in the recovery from an event. Sports Massage is not just for athletes anyone can have a sports massage as it can help relieve musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries. Many common medical conditions can benefit from a sports massage to relieve pain and discomfort.

Providing full assessments for better results

The treatment comprises of a postural assessment and examination if required. The first consultation it is preferred to have a full assessment which includes a postural assessment. Within the treatment special tests can be used for further examination of the muscles, joints and soft tissue. Tests can highlight imbalances in muscles and provide answers to planning how to design your treatment.

Our techniques

Sports Massage “Soft Tissue” and “Remedial massage Therapy” are intertwined and apply the same techniques of Soft Tissue Release (STR) Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) to help to relieve sore, aching, tight and stiff muscles.

Myofascial release and trigger point therapy are other techniques used within a treatment. Myofascial release is a light gentle stretch, pressure and movement of the fascia to provide release of tight muscles to improves range of movement. Whereas trigger point therapy Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) is applying pressure to a band of muscles fibres that are causing pain, adhesions and tension.
