Effective treatments for an effective result
Treatments for pain relief
The Cupping at Bodyhealththerapies is Dry cupping and in the session, the therapist places round cups directly on your skin. The cup is manually pumped to create a suction. The cups are then left on your skin for several minutes, which is static cupping, or moved along the skin area by sliding technique or flash cupping to suction and lift the cups and leave for a few seconds and minutes which will not leave circular marks on the skin and is an effective treatment for pain relief.
Key benefits
- An increase in circulation to the muscle, fascia and skin, which increases oxygenation and nutrient levels within the soft tissue.
- Increases the removal of chemical irritants within muscle and fascia and the removal of stagnant blood.
- Causes micro-trauma which leads to sterile inflammation and a renewed healing process
- Produces a stretch reflex in fascia and connective tissue, which increases mobility at the joint
- Cupping techniques that include active movement stimulate the nervous system and aid in re-education muscles memory and proprioception.
- Aids in the management of pain as cupping therapy reduces muscular tension, nerve compression and irritation through the build-up of chemical irritants, whilst increasing the range of movement.
Dry cupping techniques
The sliding technique is used whilst the client flexes and extends the joint. The joint movement can be done actively or passively by the therapist.
This technique:
- Can help to produce a quicker stretch response in the soft tissue.
- Helps to increase heat within the muscle through the joint movement and helps to increase localised blood flow to the working muscle.
- Aid proprioception and nerve stimulation via movement.
The flash technique is multiple cups placed along with the muscle. Then the first cup is removed and reapplied in front of the last cup providing continuous movement of cups.
This technique:
- This produces fewer cupping marks than other techniques.
- It is lighter and more superficial depending on the suction used.
Having cupping with us our treatment is not to mark the skin with circular marks the treatment will comprise of a combination of static, flashing and sliding techniques. During the consultation, we will decide based on the reason for the treatment type of pain, injury or condition.
