Welcome to Bodyhealththerapies.
Great, you want to know more about us.
Founder: Florence Andrews, BSc hons, MISRM, MFHT
I am the Founder of Bodyhealththerapies and Principal Massage and Soft Tissue Therapist
The humble beginnings of the business started with my passion for massage eight years ago. I have a degree in Sports Science and Leisure Management from Brunel University and now after some years of study I am a level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist and a member of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage
I have 16 years’ experience in the sport, physical activity, and health development my first introduction to the industry was as a sports coach and instructor running summer sports programmes for children and young people and instructing on Adult GP exercise referral schemes and community exercise groups. In the summer holidays during University, I worked as a camp counsellor in America working in upstate New York and California…
Continuing to develop my career in the industry I worked for two London borough councils and a health organisation as a manager working on programmes and projects and commissioning services collaboratively with voluntary organisations, local community groups, local agencies, health organisations and agencies, council services, and external stakeholders.
I have always had a fascination with anatomy and physiology and learning about the body and how to fix and repair it.
As a sportsperson, I regularly went to an osteopath and had massages, so I saw the beauty and benefits of massage and having treatment for pain and dysfunction
My massage experience is forever evolving which is so good and I learn and grow every day with the business. My approach and business is centred on an evidence based approach to massage and soft tiisue therapy as there is a wealth of research and interest in the impact of massage therapy for pain management and relief.

My Experience
I have eight years massage and soft tissue therapy experience massaging and getting triathletes and runners ready every year for half marathons, marathons, 10ks, London and Blenheim triathlon and charity events. In 2019, I massaged international swimmers at the World Para Swimming Championships.
My focus and specialism are reducing pain, identify the cause of pain and working using techniques of trigger point, acupressure and soft tissue release techniques to help my clients with pain. Within the eight years my attention centres on providing massage for all, pregnant ladies, to individuals with office or work-related muscle tension, aches and pain. My treatments are guided by evidence based research in massage therapy , more is being uncovered about the benefits of massage but more still needs to be researched

I have recently completed my undergraduate degree at London Metropolitan University, receiving a level four qualification in sports massage from the university. I studied Sports Therapy for three years and half of this time studying was completed in the covid-19 era. I have always taken an interest in sports and play rugby for Hackney Ladies a winger in the south east central division league Previously, I have experience with working in different work sectors including catering, childcare, events & stewarding, and retail. Over the years working in these sectors have given me skills that will aid with what I’m passionate about doing now, massage therapy.

Throughout my years of studying at London Metropolitan University, there were opportunities presented to practice my skills in differing situations. In 2019, I volunteered with Age UK for the London Marathon. Providing post-massage to their sponsored marathon runners. This charity helps aid the elderly population in the UK and is the leading charity for older people. From the summer of 2020 till spring 2021, I was an intern at Saracens Women Rugby club. Saracens Women being one of the most decorated Rugby teams in the UK and Europe. This included me shadowing fellow interns and the main physiotherapists at the club. Working with this Rugby club was a wonderful experience and I was able to practice my massage techniques, assessing the professionals with treatment and their general wellbeing.
My experience with massage is coming up to three years now and I’m always looking for ways to improve and add to my arsenal. I pride myself on being able to engage with clients due to my warm character and personality. This in tell will hopefully allow the clients to feel relaxed and at ease while receiving. Knowing how to change techniques and pressure is important to make sure the clients are receiving the very best from the massage. Whether it’s a relaxing massage, deep tissue to help reach the sensitive painful spots or a sports/remedial massage to improve, tone ROM and performance.

My journey into the Health and Fitness Industry started when I was a teenager I was always involved into a form of physical activities such as martial arts, contemporary dance, classical ballet and signing in to a gym with intention of competing. Years later, after having my children and the time dedicated to be around them, I have decided to use the time being at home to get qualified in that field which I have always being interested in and having it as my hobby. In 2018 I got my Personal Trainer qualification as meanwhile I competed and won my first trophy in Toned Figure Bodybuilding.

The more I was training and building myself, the more I was getting to understand and explore what the human body is capable to achieve. I was eager to get a greater depth of knowledge in sports nutrition, corrective exercise, enhancement performance, sports massage therapy, exercise referral and got the relevant qualifications for these.
I aim to be an inspiration to others, starting with my family and friends, by helping and introducing them to exercise, self release techniques or provide a simple mobility guidance to prevent pain or further injuries.
At times when I need to calm my mind, I enjoy drawing or painting which really takes my thoughts away from everything else and simply makes me stay in the present moment; a good book, time in nature or new activity are always an alternative.
I believe that every person can get better, healthier and happier as long as one knows how to treat the body/mind properly in order to make it function in its optimal way.

The event massage service has a therapist database made up of qualified therapists, physiotherapists, sports therapists, sports therapy students and massage students. Therapists can join the therapy database and be notified of upcoming events automatically or apply to work for one-off events by completing the online application on the Work for us page. All events are listed on the Events page; therapists can apply to work at any event listed.
The event team size depends on the nature of the event. The Event team is on hand to get you ready and relieve tight, aching muscles before or after an event. The Event clinic and Therapy hub is on-site at any event, large or small.
